Ring in 2019 a la ROVE

New Year’s Eve is all about looking forward to the year ahead, full of hope and good intentions on making life better in the coming months. So we’re always a little surprised when we show up at a New Year’s party that has the same old, same old vibe with nothing fresh on the table (literally or figuratively). Bubbly and canapes? So last year.

If you’re hosting NYE this year, consider making it an even more special evening with some of these ideas inspired by our travels.

Create an Instagram Moment: From wallpaper to murals to over-the-top bathrooms, most hotels and restaurants these days are designed with Instagram in mind, so that there’s at least one place to snap a memorable pic. While you may not have it in you to create a DIY photo booth, complete with props, we like the idea of turning one part of your entertaining area into a ‘grammable moment using balloons. Check out this playful couch setup and shiny holographic backdrop situation (from Studio DIY, pictured above) for ideas to get you started.

Ditch the Champagne Cocktail: We’re never going to say no to raising a glass at midnight, but surprise guests with something extraordinary to sip before the big countdown commences. Many of our favorite resorts are serving up delicious kombucha cocktails these days, and they’re the perfect thing to get your NYE party rolling: They’re crisp, refreshing, and unexpected. Bon Appetit’s Kombucha-Vodka Highball couldn’t be easier to make, and will keep your guests awake and alert until it’s time to break out the bubby.

Have Fun with the Dress Code: No longer do the “boys will be boys” and “girls will be girls” rules apply. Instead of simply specifying black tie or cocktail attire on your invitation, get a little more specific, like many hotels do on their themed party nights. Go for bowties and bowlers. Tiaras and tuxes. A suit-only soiree. You’ll be surprised what your friends will put together when they’re given some guidance.

Send Your Friends Home with Something Well-Intentioned: Everyone wants to believe that they’re going to keep their New Year’s resolutions, so why not help your friends out with a gift that starts them off on the right foot? Perhaps pick a couple of your favorite crystals to help bring joy, luck and fortune to your loved ones. We also love Yoke’s Intention candle, which they can burn while they focus on their New Year’s goals. If you’re not the one having the party, send your favorite host a Daybreak gift bundle from Simone LeBlanc to ring in their New Year beautifully and deliciously.
